Laser treatment is required to treat the blood pipes responsible for retinal swelling and also to prevent further visual loss. We at GEI, have installed the high end NIDEK GYC-1000 for accurate and precise treatment of our patients.
Highly specific medicines are now available, that can be injected directly into the eye through extremely fine needles. These injections have a dramatic response on damaged blood pipes and can significantly improve vision in a majority of diabetic retinopathy patients.
Finer instruments with better performance are now available for retinal surgeries required for patients with very advanced diabetic eye disease. These have the advantage of faster healing, safer surgery and reduced discomfort. At GEI, we recommend and perform MIVS for all of our diabetic patients requiring retinal surgery.
